We Are Jenkintown Matters We are a non-partisan resident research group seriously concerned with the future viability and independence of our borough. We are group of residents with backgrounds in business accounting and finance, government financial analysis and compliance, tech, and media. The Borough Council’s apparent intention to dissolve our police force due to alleged “unsustainability” compelled us to conduct our own research. We have already proved to Council, the Mayor and the Chief of Police that we can, in fact, keep our police. Further, our members have volunteered considerable time researching not only the alleged policing issues but many other Borough issues as well. We want to engage our elected local government officials and work with them. We expect competency, transparency, and fairness in return. Read our policy statement here. The Borough has yet to officially release this video ten months later. We obtained it thanks to a concerned resident. Sign up for Monthly Matters Each month, we’ll send a short and spicy report on the latest from our little borough. While Jenkintown Borough makes its budget readily available on their website, they don’t readily explain all the line-items within it or even where those numbers actually come from. We believe for far too long, the Borough has failed to fully explain where all our tax dollars are going. We think it’s time for a full accounting, and in terms that everyone can understand. Jenkintown Matters is a group of residents seriously concerned with the future viability and independence of our Borough. With the latest revelation that our town may not be able to afford its own police force, we’ve decided to take a look ourselves. Among those helping us get a clearer picture of Jenkintown’s finances are residents with backgrounds in finance, tech, and media, who are not blindly accepting the council’s version of events or solutions as the last word on the topic. Jenkintown Matters expects competency, transparency, and fairness from those who serve this community. We will be using this site to publish our findings and will also link them from our Facebook Page.
