Jenkintown Matters Releases Policy Platform

Jenkintown Matters, February 9, 2025February 10, 2025

“Nothing changes until Council changes.”

This has been the refrain of many in this town who no longer feel represented and by those who see Jenkintown continuing down a path of decline. They have personally experienced the dismissive and condescending attitudes of our managers and leaders.

In response, the members of Jenkintown Matters present our statement of principles and our proposal to improve our community.

This document is for the rest of us, those that still believe in a solvent, well-managed future for our little borough, where we can continue to feel safe and secure in our homes and to feel proud of its restoration as a truly pedestrian-friendly community with a thriving, viable commercial district.

It is often the impetus behind the “For Sale” signs that spring up when the family sees they youngest child finally graduate from the school, that despite their love for the community, they cannot or will not be further burdened by outrageous tax hikes or be patient with the incompetence and soft corruption of our government officials.

This document first outlines a Statement of Principles underlying our proposals and asserts that there is no higher budgetary priority for local government than to provide police and fire protection.

This document is designed to bring greater transparency and accountability to our government. It outlines a plan to insure that Jenkintown is governed and protected by competent and responsive administrators, that will always be sensitive to the financial burdens and the realistic needs of its citizens.

And finally, we make this platform available to potential Council candidates and pledge to support those who run on it.

I never worried about Jenkintown. Now I’m afraid.

October 30, 2024October 30, 2024

Jenkintown represents every thing I’ve ever wanted in a home town. But now as a senior citizen, I’m not just worried, I’m a bit afraid.
